Bridging the Digital Divide in Rural Schools

The digital divide in India is not just a technology gap — it's an opportunity gap. While urban students have access to laptops, tablets, and high-speed internet, millions of rural children have never touched a computer.

The Scale of the Problem

According to NSSO data, only 4.4% of rural households in India have a computer, compared to 23.4% in urban areas. This disparity has widened further after the pandemic, when digital literacy became essential for education.

NexXen's Digital Literacy Mission

Our Digital Literacy Mission is a direct response to this crisis. Since 2025, we have set up 20 fully equipped computer labs in rural schools across Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Madhya Pradesh. Each lab includes:

  • 10-15 desktop computers with internet connectivity
  • Licensed educational software and coding platforms
  • A trained instructor from the local community
  • A structured curriculum covering basic operations to foundational coding

Real Impact

Students in our digital literacy program show remarkable progress. Within 6 months, most students can independently use a computer, browse the internet safely, create documents, and write basic programs. More importantly, their confidence soars.

What's Next

We aim to set up 50 more labs by 2027 and introduce advanced modules in AI awareness and data literacy for older students. With your support, no child will be left behind in the digital age.
